Kicking off a great 2010 show season at Legacy Stables!

Summer is here and in spite of the heat, our horses and riders are competing well and enjoying a successful start to this show season. We've been to the Vermont Spring Classic Show, Connecticut Morgan Show and Granite State Morgan Show and now we're gearing up for the New England Regional.

Dennis O'Connell and SPR Don Juan won the Novice Rider Western Pleasure at Vermont and Granite State. At this rate, Dennis won't be a novice for much longer!

Maria Tartaglione and KGA Center Stage won the Walk-Trot Pleasure qualifier and Championship at the Granite State Show in Maria's show ring debut. We are very proud of her double wins, as all her hard work over the winter paid off in spades.

Our daughter, Emily, and her horse Pembroke Sweat Treat debuted in Hunter Walk-Trot 9 and Under at Connecticut by winning their pleasure class and tying a good third in equitation. Emily just came out of leadline and is only 6!

Mike rode Brenda Varney's horse Grand Cru Taittinger to a win in the Novice English Pleasure at Vermont.

Also at Vermont, Kathleen Vaughan and her mare Pembroke Anna Bella won the Amateur Hunter Pleasure Mare class, and she also topped the Open Hunter Mare class with Liz aboard. And Kathleen (who happens to be Liz's sister) rode Pembroke Sweat Treat to a second in the same class. Both mares were bred by Brenda Varney, both are sired by CN The Commanding Touch. A really neat class that was lots of fun for everyone!

Kathleen and her new classic horse Claim To Fame won the Ladies Classic Pleasure Saddle at the Connecticut Show out of a field 12 entries. Way to Go!

Jim Giorgio's stallion Stonewall's Pure Cabernet was Reserve in the Open Hunter Pleasure Championship at the Vermont Spring Classic in his saddle debut.

White Out, a really neat, exciting three year old western pleasure gelding bred by Pat and Richard Pitman in Deerfield, NH won the large Junior/Novice Western Pleasure class and the Championship out of 10 in his debut at Granite State. This horse screams OKC-quality junior western pleasure and is available for purchase!

Judy Cherry and her gelding Hillfield Night Edition won the Open Classic Pleasure Driving Stallions & Geldings at Connecticut and won the qualifier and Championship Junior/Novice Saddle classes at Granite State. Go Judy!

Ellen Walsh and her mare No Kidding won the Novice Rider Hunter Pleasure Championship at Granite State, and also won the Hunter Pleasure Youth qualifier at Vermont Spring Classic. Go Ellen!

Jennifer Shubitowski and her cute gelding Stoneleigh Flair For Life were second in the Classic Pleasure Saddle Jr. Exhibitor 14-17 at Vermont Spring Classic. Jennifer is working hard to earn that blue this season!

Brenda Varney had a great Connecticut Show with her boys, starting off with a win in the Masters Classic Saddle with her World Champion Aspenglow Genesis. This is a strong team that just gets better every year. Brenda also piloted CN The Commanding Touch to a strong reserve in the Amateur English Pleasure. Brenda is as versatile as her Morgans and she proved it with her striking gelding Equinox Beau Jangles as they were Reserve Champions in the Amateur Western Pleasure.

CM Regal Lady earns
Legion of Honor Award

CM Regal Lady was recently awarded with a Legion of Honor. This is an achievement award in the Arabian Horse Association Horse Achievement Award program. The program recognizes horses that have completed successfully in any number of diciplines.

CM Regal Lady is pictured here at her last show, the East Coast Championships in PA, at the age of 19. Known as "Regal" to everyone in the barn, this honor is the culmination of successful competitions over her life from 1992 thru 2007. Regal is one of the barn's favorite lesson horses. She is retired from the large show arena and still enjoys teaching students how to ride. She still enjoys attending some schooling shows, introducing students to competition while being safe and having fun.

The Grand National was Truly Grand!

The Legacy Stables exhibitors all worked hard and were well rewarded in Oklahoma City this past October at the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show.

Headlining our winners was the seasoned team of Brenda Varney and her beautiful gelding, ASPENGLOW GENESIS (pictured right), who took home Reserve World Champion Classic Saddle Masters honors after a good Reserve Grand National Championship in their qualifier.

Stoneleigh Flaire For Life

Brenda also chalked up a very good third place ribbon in the Grand National Champion English Pleasure Amateur Masters class with her stallion, CN THE COMMANDING TOUCH.

STONELEIGH FLAIRE FOR LIFE (pictured left) and his owner/rider, were crowned Reserve Grand National Champion Classic Saddle Jr. Exhibitor 14 & 15, as well we Top Ten in the World Championship class, which encompassed the entire 14-17 year age group.

The very charismatic PEMBROKE ANNABELLA, a daughter of Brenda Varney's CN The Commanding Touch and a product of Brenda's own breeding program, garnered a very tough fourth place ribbon in the Ladies Mare Hunter Pleasure Grand National class and the same ribbon in the Four Year Old Hunter Pleasure Mares Grand National qualifier. She did not show back in her World Championships.

Strike Zone

A winner nearly everywhere shown this year, STRIKE ZONE (pictured left) was on his game in OKC and stepped up for a seventh place in the Grand National Four Year Old Western Pleasure Stallions & Geldings.

STRAIGHT UP and Kathleen Vaughn had a good class for the BBG Group in the Youth Pleasure Driving Finals, taking home the sixth place honor in this very tough class. Available for purchase, this talented son of WC sire Astronomicallee is ready to take on the world next year with a new owner.

Brenda Varney changed into her chaps and cowgirl hat to pilot EQUINOX BEAU JANGLES (pictured right) to a good seventh in the Western Pleasure Amateur Masters World Championship.
